Amanda Brugel

Brugel was the sole Canadian in the cast of Season 1 was not observed. Then, in Season 2, she became a series regularly scheduled and has been a member of the cast ever since. While discussing her role, and its similarities to actual life, Brugel can connect to issues of racism and injustices she's experienced in different areas of her life. She explained: "I lean heavily on race. Like I've mentioned earlier, I've encountered situations where I believed that I was treated as a slave just because I am African-American." While I've never had physical violence because of the color of my skin but I did experience the verbal abuse. Any sort of racial slurs or insults that felt as a real hit or an impact to me, I could use on the set when someone says something that is brutal and hard to swallow. The feeling that I get from it is present throughout the show because I get the feeling that she's being punched with a punch in virtually all of the scenes."
